Le Bonheur (...) soignait l'étoffe, vantait ses alpagas et ses mohairs (ZOLA, Bonh. dames, 1883, p.582). Sa robe blanche en mohair brillant (COLETTE, Cl. école, 1900, p.287). La «Chèvre d'Angora» (...) est répandue sur toute l'Asie moyenne; de sa laine brillante, importée de la Turquie et aussi du Cap (...), on fait le «mohair» et le tissu nommé «alpaga» (E. PERRIER, Zool., t.4, 1928-32, p.3594).
